Volkswagen Scirocco Black Edition models announced

The Scirocco Black Edition brings enhanced looks and specification to top versions of the line-up.

Two special edition versions of the svelte Volkswagen Scirocco have been announced, called the Scirocco GT Black Edition and R-Line Black Edition.

Both cars feature black painted alloy wheels, a black contrasting roof, door mirrors and rear spoiler. To complete the look, the rear windows have also received a dark 90 per cent tint, giving the Scirocco an added dash of style and aggression.

The GT Black Edition is fitted with 18-inch ‘Lisbon’ alloy wheels, while the R-Line Black Edition gets 19-inch ‘Lugano’ alloys. The respective special editions cost £550 more than the equivalent GT or R-Line trim, which can work out as good value, considering the £680 it would normally cost to add ‘Lisbon’ alloys and tinted windows to the GT trim if you delved into the optional extras.

Engine choices include a 1.4-litre or 2.0-litre TSI petrol with 123bhp and 178bhp or a 2.0-litre diesel with either 148bhp or 181bhp. All come fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while all but the 1.4-litre also come with the option of a six-speed DSG semi-automatic gearbox.

Standard kit includes a 6.5-inch touch-screen, Bluetooth connection, DAB digital radio, air-con, auto headlights and wipers, sports seats and a leather steering wheel. GT boosts this with sat-nav, dual-zome climate control, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors and part Alcantara upholstery.

The R-Line trim has sportier bumpers, carbon-effect dash inserts, heated sports seats and an R-Line steering wheel, handbrake and gear lever.

Pricing starts from £23,135 for the Scirocco GT Black Edition 1.4 TSI and models are available to order now, with first deliveries expected in January 2016.
