What new cars are at the Chicago Auto Show 2019?

It may not be the most important motor show on the calendar, but the Chicago Auto Show is a good chance for American car fans to see the latest vehicles.

With the Geneva Motor Show just around the corner, manufacturers are saving some of their more exciting cars for the first major car event of the year.

The Chicago Auto Show gives American people the chance to get up close with some of the latest major releases from the car world – even if it isn’t the most important event for manufacturers.

Here are some of the best cars on display…

Audi’s first all-electric model is being shown in Chicago just after it went on sale worldwide. Fitted with two electric motors to provide four-wheel drive and develop upwards of 400bhp, the e-tron emits no harmful emissions and can go up to 248 miles on a single charge. Going up against the likes of the Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X, the e-tron is entering a small but very competitive sector.

Hyundai Nexo

Like the e-tron, the Hyundai Nexo is an upcoming zero-emission vehicle – but the South Korean model uses a hydrogen-powered electrical system to develop 159bhp. With very few fuel cell electric vehicles on sale, the Nexo is looking to forge ahead in the market and provide another option for those after environmentally-friendly driving. It comes with a quoted range of 382 miles.

After Lexus took an awfully long time to finally release the LC Coupe, the Japanese brand has shown off what a drop-top version of the two-seat sports car could look like. As with the hard-top, the Convertible would be powered by the 5.0-litre V8 or the 2.5-litre V6 petrol hybrid, while allowing drivers to enjoy the engine note more thanks to the open-air experience. It doesn’t look half bad either.

Range Rover Evoque

The second generation Evoque offers more of an evolution than revolution over the first iteration, as Land Rover has mainly tweaked the design to look more like its recent offerings while adding a fleet of new features. Fitted with the brand’s Ingenium diesel and petrol offerings, the Evoque is also likely to come with a hybrid powertrain at some point.

Porsche 911

2019 Porsche 911 992

The legendary sports car was revealed at the tail-end of 2018, and with a bit of modernising here and there, it maintains most of the 911’s iconic quirks. Available from launch as the Carrera and Carrera 4S, this 911 helps keep Porsche at the top of the sports car game and despite being priced more than £90,000, it’s as desirable as ever.

Volvo S60

As the saloon version of the popular estate model, the S60 is the first Volvo to be solely produced in the US and can come with a Polestar-engineered powertrain and setup. The executive saloon comes in the same three trim levels as most other Volvos – Momentum, R-Design and Inscription – and comes with all the great safety and driver assistance features you would expect from a Volvo.
