What’s new on the 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio?

Here’s what the latest updates bring to these sporty Italian models

Alfa Romeo has really got its mojo back in the last few years, and right at the helm of this success is the Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV.

The regular models are already some of the best in their classes – especially if you value style and driving enjoyment – but the models to get really excited about are the hot Quadrifoglio models.

Featuring a 503bhp 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6, these models are truly thrilling to drive, and some of the best cars you can buy in their respective segments.

And now for 2020, the Italian firm has updated both – increasing the appeal further. The changes aren’t vast, but there a number of upgrades that help to add to this car’s appeal. Here’s what’s new…

A shoutier exhaust

The regular exhaust system on the two Quadrifoglio models is already quite vocal as it is. However, as part of this update, Alfa Romeo is offering a more raucous system to add to the drama.

Available as an option is a new Akrapovic exhaust system, which comes with two modes to adjust the loudness of it. With its titanium and carbon fibre tailpipes, it looks awesome as well.

New colour and livery options

Perhaps most noticeable on this update for many will be the new colour options. While a good selection of shades is already available on the two cars, Alfa Romeo is introducing three new colour options onto this 2020 update.

A highlight is the new Montreal Green, pictured, which suits the models perfectly, while 6C Villa D’Este Red harks back to past models. A cool GT Junior Ocra shade is also available, which is a really vibrant yellow/gold shade.

New liveries may also be available, too, though details are still to be confirmed around these.

New driver assistance tech

While both the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models are at their best on a twisty road, many of these models will be used on a daily basis. So to reflect that, Alfa Romeo is introducing a number of driver assistance aids onto the model.

Offering what’s known as Level 2 semi-autonomous tech, the upgraded models add a number of safety features, These include adaptive cruise control and ‘Traffic Jam Assist and Highway Assist’, which is where the car can keep you central in the lane in heavy traffic or on motorways, and respond to changing speed limits. Other tech available includes a system that can monitor the condition of the driver, as well as blind spot monitoring.

Enhanced connectivity

Connectivity and infotainment systems are an area that manufacturers are investing much of their time into, and that’s true with this updated pair of Alfa Romeos too.

Both Quadrifoglio versions now come with a new 8.8-inch touchscreen, which features a new interface design and enhanced connected services. On the hot Quadrifoglio models you also get specialist ‘Performance Pages’, which can display a whole multitude of cool features – including the temperature of mechanical components, the torque delivery, and digital chronometers to monitor acceleration and speed.

Styling tweaks

The styling changes made to both models are discreet to say the least, though with both models looking superb anyway, there was no real need to go overboard.

Revisions include new LED rear lights with darkened lenses, along with the option to have new carbon fibre elements thanks to FCA’s Mopar division. It means you can have a carbon fibre front grille, mirror caps and a rear spoiler. Meanwhile, on the Stelvio SUV, new 21-inch alloy wheels are available.
