Which cars come with Amazon Alexa?

As Amazon’s voice assistant system becomes more common in cars, we take a look at the manufacturers that offer it in their vehicles.

Voice assistants are becoming more common in daily life, with many smartphones and home assistant devices now fitted with the technology.

Amazon’s own system, Alexa, is now being fitted to cars and it will be a feature that can help organise your life while on the go.

Here are manufacturers that are currently offering Alexa as part of their infotainment setup.

Mini infotainment

BMW/MINI

The German manufacturer offers Alexa on both its BMW and MINI vehicles in conjunction with their current infotainment systems. The skills that Alexa uses are accessible through the Alexa application on both brand’s setups, with drivers not needing to use a smartphone to make it work. Alexa has been on offer with BMW since 2016 to give status updates, but the full complement of the assistant’s features is now available.

Ford

Although it’s not available in Europe yet, Ford has employed the Alexa system in its vehicles in the US via the Sync 3 infotainment setup. This version of the assistant doesn’t connect with a home-based device yet, but you’ll soon be able to perform all of Alexa’s skills through the Ford service.

Seat infotainment Alexa

Seat

Coming to the Arona, Ibiza and Leon models, Alexa will be available in Europe for the first time with Seat. The Spanish manufacturer is offering the assistant on those three vehicles from now on and is the first Volkswagen Group company to provide the system.

Toyota

Much like Ford, the system has been fitted to Toyota models in the US – but is yet to be used here in the UK. Used on Toyota and Lexus cars with the Entune and Enform apps, it hasn’t been confirmed whether Alexa will be available in Europe as of yet. But with the assistant in use in the US, it can be assumed it will be uploaded to European models at some point.

Volkswagen and Skoda are due to bring in Alexa at some point, although no official date has been confirmed.
