Why the Dacia Duster is the best value new car of 2019

Why the Dacia Duster is the best value new car of 2019

The Dacia Duster claimed AutoTrader’s ‘Best Value New Car’ of 2019; here’s why Dacia’s compact 4x4 is one of the most appealing SUVs.

Whether it’s a ‘two for one’ offer in the local supermarket, a cheap holiday abroad or free parking, everyone loves a bargain.

But look at the car market today and it’s littered with overpriced or expensive-looking models. Even a supermini can easily cost you in excess of £20,000, and SUVs and crossovers are often those that seem to be the most inflated when it comes to price.

But thankfully, Dacia exists to show us all that, even in 2019, there is still a place for affordable motoring, which helps to explain why this brand is going from strength-to-strength. Here’s why the Dacia Duster is the best value car of 2019.

It’s the most affordable crossover on sale today

The crossover market has expanded hugely in recent years, and while many have gone on to become more premium and upmarket, the Duster has remained fixated on offering customers the best value for money possible.

With prices starting from £10,995, the Duster is the lowest priced new model in its class by some margin – undercutting the MG ZS and SsangYong Korando, which cost from £12,495 and £14,445 respectively.

There are plenty of luxuries still available

While the entry-level Dacia Duster offers your basic necessities as features, its higher specification versions are really well equipped.

For example, the range-topping Prestige model features a reversing camera, climate control and blind-spot monitoring to name but a few features. So, while the entry-level might only come with the essentials, you’ll find far more kit on the high-spec models, offering fantastic value for money.

Genuinely spacious and usable as a family car

Small crossovers tend to be particularly popular with young families, and it’s fantastic that the Duster manages to be so spacious at such a low price.

The 445-litre boot is a great size for a model of this size, with this space increasing to 1,623 litres once you fold the rear seats flat – this is far more than many of its more expensive rivals.

Four-wheel-drive versions available from just £15,700

Should you want extra off-roading ability, the four-wheel-drive Duster is available for that extra ability off tarmac, with prices starting from £15,700. What’s more, the diesel and petrol 4x4 models can tow a braked trailer up to 1,500kg, meaning that the Duster could be an ideal small tow car, too.
