Worldwide sales for Volvo up 12.9 per cent in September

The Swedish brand has continued to post successful figures throughout 2018, with 60,622 units sold last month.

Volvo has posted yet another strong sales performance in 2018, with September seeing an increase in global sales of 12.9 per cent over the same period last year.

In the manufacturer’s key markets – the US, China and Europe – Volvo saw an enhanced uptake, which has helped maintain the brand’s momentum this year.

Europe remained the brand’s biggest market with 29,922 sales in September – an 8.4 per cent increase over September 2017 – while China (14.4 per cent) and the US (10.3 per cent) continued to see sales growth.

Volvo has also seen an increase in popularity across other markets, as September saw 8,780 sales – a 32.5 per cent hike over the same time last year – which has added to the overall sales outside the main three markets, now totalling 68,752 in 2018.

At this current pace, Volvo is set to make it five consecutive years of record sales after it sold 571,577 units last year – with 2018 seeing the debut of the new V60 and S60. So far, Volvo has sold 472,553 cars this year, which is 14.3 per cent up over the first nine months of 2017.

The XC60 is the brand’s leading model so far in 2018 with 134,975 unit sales, while the XC90 (70,329 sales) and V40 range (59,501) are currently the brand’s second and third most popular models respectively.
