2018 BMW X3 on sale in November

Meet the third-generation BMW X3 SUV, which goes on sale in the UK this November and features a more practical cabin plus a new performance specification.

BMW has revealed pictures and details of its new-generation X3 SUV, which will go on sale in the UK from 11 November 2017 with prices starting at £38,880.

Rivalling the likes of the Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC, the new X3 is more luxurious than its predecessor and includes an M Performance model in its range for the first time.

Built on a new platform, the same one used for the latest 5 Series in fact, the X3 gets a longer wheelbase which helps boost the SUV’s cabin space and practicality. While the BMW is longer, wider and taller than before, it is also 55kg lighter than its predecessor.

Changes to the X3’s design include a larger kidney grille and a more curvaceous rear. Each new X3 model features LED headlamps, alloy wheels and a full leather interior as standard.

From its launch in the UK, the new X3 will available in three trim levels and with three engines to choose. The trim levels include SE, xLine and M Sport, with the latter adding sportier design features such as unique bumpers, sports seats and optional blue brake calipers.

Engines include a 187bhp 2.0-litre diesel for the xDrive20d spec, which is priced from £38,880, and a 262bhp 3.0-litre diesel for the xDrive30d version, which starts at £44,380.

Then there’s the new M Performance model called the M40i, which comes with a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a tasty 355bhp. A rival to other performance SUVs like the Audi SQ5, the M40i can cover the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.8 seconds. Pricing for the M40i starts at £51,280.
