First official images of the Volvo V90 unveiled

Volvo has released the first official images of its hotly-anticipated new V90 estate ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Sitting in Volvo’s range-topping 90 series alongside the XC90 SUV and the S90 saloon, the stylish and versatile V90 builds on the marque’s knack for building some of the most enduring estates around.

Essentially the estate version of the S90, the V90 retains the same bold and handsome looks, with extra functionality and versatility courtesy of its larger length and increased load space.

Semi-autonomous technology

Volvo says that the car will represent “a clear step forward in terms of aesthetics, materials and finish” with a luxury interior and plenty of kit as true to the manufacturer’s reputation for quality.

Along with smartphone integration and Apple’s CarPlay feature, the V90 will also come with an array of safety and driver assistance equipment that includes Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving technology.

The marque says that it has also worked tirelessly to bring the driving dynamics of the V90 up to scratch, with a new and refined driving experience matched with optimum control and engagement.

Hybrid powertrain option

Engine options will include new diesel engines fitted with Volvo’s PowerPulse technology, which uses an air compressor to mitigate turbocharger lag, plus a petrol plug-in hybrid option.

Able to deliver a combined output of around 404bhp, the T8 Twin Engine hybrid will also be able to travel for a range of up to 31 miles on pure electric power alone.

Prices and full specifications for the new Volvo V90 have yet to be released, but it’s expected that more will be known upon the car’s official debut in Geneva next month.
