Last week, Dwayne Johnson teased some of the cars that are due to feature in the upcoming Fast 8, but now here’s the first proper look at them via the film’s Instagram page.
First up is arguably the most iconic car from the entire series, the Dodge Charger driven by Vin Diesel’s street racer-turned-secret agent Dom Toretto, which now comes with studded winter tyres for ice driving and a few bullet holes for good measure.
Johnson’s character Hobbs, as famous for his over the top cars as his over the top acting, now gets another big and brawny vehicle. It’s called the Ice Ram, and comes outfitted with all-terrain treads in place of tyres and what looks like a large claw hanging off the back.
Another tank-like vehicle comes in the form of the Howe & Howe Ripsaw, a light all-terrain vehicle designed for convoy protection, crowd control and explosive ordnance disposal. It’ll be driven by Tej, played by Ludacris, and a prototype version of the vehicle can do 0-62mph in less than 3.5 seconds.
Franchise funny man Roman Pearce also returns, with a bright orange Lamborghini that’s true to his character. No word on if there have been any modifications made to the Lambo, but it’s certainly eye-catching.
Finally, Dom’s missus Letty Ortiz will drive the Local Motors Rally Fighter, a 424bhp off-road beast powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine that’s perfect for the snow scene in which the cars feature.
There’s not too much known about the plot of Fast 8 yet, but it’s the first film in the Fast and Furious series to be made following the death of Paul Walker and features a star-studded cast.
Along with Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson, there’s a range of new characters due to appear, played by Dame Helen Mirren and Scott Eastwood, while Charlize Theron plays baddie Cipher.
