Jaguar F-PACE officially breaks cover in Frankfurt

Jaguar Land Rover has kicked this year's Frankfurt Motor Show off with a bang, unveiling the new F-PACE and a brand-new Discovery Sport trim.

The Jaguar F-PACE has officially been revealed in full at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, with full specs, prices and images.

Prices start from £34,170 and five trims are on offer: Prestige, R-Sport, Portfolio, S and the limited-edition First Edition trim, and order books are officially open for buyers from today onwards.

Inside, the F-PACE features enough space for five passengers and a cockpit-style interior feel with a sweeping instrument panel, large analogue dials and a central touchscreen display.

Buyers can also opt for a 12.3-inch HD virtual cluster, which replaces the standard dials with digitised versions and a full-screen 3D navigation display. All versions come with Jaguar’s InControl Touch Pro infotainment system on a large 8-inch screen.

A wheelbase that clocks in at 2,874mm long offers plenty of space for passengers, while the 40:20:40 split rear seats are available with an electric reclining function to enhance comfort.

Jaguar has worked hard to make the F-PACE as practical as possible and as a result, the interior features various storage binnacles and cubbyholes, along with a boot capacity of a maximum 1,740 litres.

The boot floor itself is reversible, with one side carpeted and the other rubberised, making it ideal for carrying sports equipment or pets, while an optional automatic tailgate makes access easy.

Standard kit on the entry-level Prestige trim includes 18-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats and parking aids, plus autonomous emergency braking, cruise control and the In Control system with in-car Wi-Fi.

The R-Sport trim, priced from £36,670, adds larger 19-inch alloys, an exclusive R-Sport body kit and sports seats, plus a multifunction steering wheel and leatherette-wrapped instrument panel.

Portfolio models, which start from £39,170, get 19-inch alloys as well, plus a figured ebony veneer on the inside, a panoramic roof and mod-cons like a Meridian sound system, rear view camera and premium carpets.

The £51,450 S model, meanwhile, gets 20-inch alloy wheels and a sporty S body kit, plus red brake callipers, aluminium veneering and exclusive S badging in addition to all of the above kit.

Finally, the First Edition trim, which is limited to just 200 models in the UK, is priced from £65,275 and includes a unique Caesium Blue finish, 22-inch alloys and luxury Windsor leather seats.

Engine options include a choice of a basic 178bhp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel, a 296bhp 3.0-litre diesel V6 and the same 375bhp supercharged petrol V6 engine as in the F-TYPE sports car.

The entry-level diesel is available with rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox and can sprint from 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds, returning up to 57.7mpg with just 129g/km of CO2.

Meanwhile, the rest of the power options get eight-speed automatic gearboxes and all-wheel drive as standard, with the diesel V6 able to make the benchmark sprint in 6.2 seconds while returning 47.1mpg.

The supercharged V6 petrol is the quickest, managing 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds, but also the thirstiest and least efficient, returning a comparatively small 31.7mpg with 209g/km of CO2 emissions.

Land Rover Discovery Sport gets new HSE Dynamic Lux trim

Land Rover has also revealed a new trim option for its new Discovery Sport model at Frankfurt, the HSE Dynamic Lux.

Injecting a little more visual appeal into the Discovery Sport range, the HSE Dynamic Lux features a number of exterior enhancements, including gloss black detailing and 20-inch black wheels.

Extra body cladding gives the new trim option a sportier look, while the interior also gains new colour options and detailing to create a “powerful and striking impression”, according to Land Rover.

Each HSE Dynamic Lux model also gets the All Terrain Progress Control feature, which enables the driver to set and maintain steady speeds in off-road conditions. Functioning similarly to a cruise control, it adapts the car’s behaviour to the road surface while keeping a steady pace.

It also comes with a dedicated ‘Launch’ feature to allow smooth starts on low-friction surfaces like ice, snow or wet grass, while an Active Driveline function lets it seamlessly switch between two- and four-wheel drive.

Finally, the HSE Dynamic Lux model gets Adaptive Dynamics with MagneRide dampers, which automatically adapts and adjusts the vehicle’s ride and suspension settings to the road conditions.

On sale from October onwards, the new Discovery Sport HSE Dynamic Lux will be priced from £46,000, making it the most expensive model in the new Discovery Sport range.
