Lamborghini planning to add new four-seater supercar to its range

Lamborghini's range could be poised to expand even further, after CEO Stefano Domenicali said that a four-seater sports car in the vein of the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso could be on the cards.

Lamborghini is planning to expand its line-up even further with the possible addition of a four-seater supercar to the range, according to CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Speaking at this year’s Automotive News Europe Congress, Domenciali said that a four-seat Lambo could arrive around 2025, and that Lamborghini’s engineers are already planning it.

Rival manufacturer Ferrari currently has a four-seater sports car on sale in the form of the GTC4 Lusso, while McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt has previously said he could envision a four-seat GT joining McLaren’s range.

The addition of a more ‘everyday’ car to Lamborghini’s line-up would also further the brand’s attempt at transforming its brand image from the wild child of the sports car world to a less gaudy identity.

Domenicali said: “We used to be very polarising. People loved us or hated us. Now we are trying to be more cool, younger, but as always, different.”

Lamborghini’s desire to broaden its scope coincides with significant expansions made to its factory in Sant’Agata, which has been extended to cope with production of the new Urus SUV.

The Italian company’s first attempt at an SUV in more than three decades, the Urus will open new market opportunities for Lamborghini and increase its consumer base.

Rivalling cars like the Porsche Macan Turbo and Bentley Bentayga, the Urus will be powered by a 650bhp twin-turbocharged V8 but will later come with a plug-in hybrid option.

The new Lamborghini Urus is expected to go on sale towards the second half of next year, with prices estimated to start from approximately £170,000.
