McLaren 720S official details are here

McLaren has officially unveiled its latest Super Series sports car named the 720S - the successor to the 650S. It is available to order now with pricing starting at £208,600. First UK orders are expected to take place this May.

While an image of the 720S was leaked last week, the official reveal at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show gives us a better look at McLaren’s latest supercar

The new carbon fibre chassis tub and upper structure makes use of the lessons McLaren has learned from developing the likes of the 650S and even the P1 hypercar.

Putting its knowledge to use, the new chassis helps make the 720S 18kg lighter than its predecessor and the body is also incredibly strong even though the A-pillars at the front are noticeably very thin.

The 720S also features new suspension and power-assisted electro-hydraulic steering to deliver huge reserves of grip.

Powering the 720S is an all-new, twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine with 720 metric horsepower, which translates to 710bhp. There’s also a meaty torque output of 770Nm, and maximum torque is delivered at 5,500rpm.

The new McLaren can sprint from zero to 62mph in just 2.9 seconds, or from zero to 124mph in 7.8 seconds. The top speed of the 720S is 212mph.

Inside, the 720S’s cabin has the new Folding Driver Display which changes size and how much info the driver can view depending on their priorities, as well as a Central Infotainment Screen.
