Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail get Premium Concept

Nissan has revealed two Premium Concepts based on the latest Qashqai and X-Trail. They both show what sportier and more luxurious versions of these family cars would look like.

Nissan will reveal two Premium Concept models based on the latest Qashqai and X-Trail at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, with both featuring some striking differences in styling.

The standard Qashqai and X-Trail focus on providing versatile and practical family motoring at a relatively competitive price. With Premium Concepts however, Nissan has explored what would happen if both cars focused more on a sporty and luxurious design approach.

With these new concepts, Nissan are potentially exploring the idea of creating new derivatives of its crossovers and SUVs to appeal to a more diverse range of customers.

Qashqai Premium Concept

The Nissan Qashqai Premium concept sports a matt black finish for the body with some contrasting golden copper-coloured detailing on certain parts including the roof rails, bumpers, side sills and the 20-inch alloy wheels.

Carbon fibre is used in lower sections of the exterior and the bumpers, side sills and the V-shaped grille at the front are all larger to give the Qashqai a bolder, sportier profile.

Inside, the Qashqai Premium Concept has a more luxurious and distinctive interior than regular models. It includes soft white Nappa leather upholstery, copper gold weave carbon fibre trim and a black satin chrome and liquid gloss black finish on the steering wheel and gear shifter.

X-Trail Premium Concept

The most striking thing about the X-Trail Premium Concept from the outside is how the black matt carbon fibre bonnet and roof contrast with the matt white paint job for the body.

Other unique design touches include the touches of gloss black and golden cooper colour on the front skid plate, side sills and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The interior meanwhile is covered in premium leather, finished in a natural tan and black colour scheme. For the dashboard and door trim, black carbon fibre finishing and matt chrome black are both used.

Nissan’s Executive Design Director, Mamoru Aoki, said: “As the pioneer of this sector, Nissan will continue to push the boundaries and explore creative solutions to fulfil the broad range of the needs of the aspirational customers in Europe.”
