Obeying the call of the wild just got that little bit easier if you’re an adventurous MINI owner, as you can now buy a special two-man folding tent for the roof of your car.
Designed by Italian roof tent company Autohome in conjunction with MINI, the AirTop is a deployable pop-up tent that sits on top of the roof rails of the new MINI Countryman.
When folded, the tent appears like a conventional roof box with a fibreglass housing and aerodynamic design to reduce air resistance, but can be raised via four gas pressure springs.
Measuring 2.1 metres in length and 1.3 metres wide, the tent includes a high-density mattress with a cotton cover, two doors and two windows, plus integrated close-meshed mosquito nets.
There’s also a battery-operated LED interior light, plus luggage nets and pockets to store small items along with a solid aluminium ladder, which can be deployed to get in and out of the tent.
Autohome says there’s enough room inside for two adults to sleep comfortably, and the tent is available in a choice of gloss white or gloss black to match the roof and mirror caps of the Countryman.
It can be secured onto the top of the new Countryman with no modifications necessary and is available to order now, priced from approximately £2,396.
