The scrappage scheme allows up to £6,000 of savings to be had across the Volkswagen range, with the biggest savings coming on Sharan models. The German manufacturer has pledged to deliver all vehicles ordered during the scrappage scheme by June 30, 2018.

To be eligible for the Volkswagen scrappage scheme, the traded-in car must have been registered before 2010 and comply with pre-Euro 5 emissions legislation. The current owner must have also had the vehicle in their name for at least six months, with April 2, 2018 being the final date of the scheme.

Alison Jones, director of Volkswagen UK, said: “We have already seen thousands of older cars taken off the road as UK drivers step into one of our new, lower emission, Volkswagens.

“All new Volkswagen petrol and diesel cars meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards so whether it’s our latest Euro 6 cars, or our class-leading range of plug-in hybrid or full electric models, we have something to make the continued Scrappage Upgrade offer irresistible.”
